Dream Zoo Adding Additional Habitat Space, What A Ripoff.

So, after some empirical testing, I've come to the conclusion that if you have a 4x4 square space, DO NOT buy any additional habitat space. Instead, breed another animal, from the same habitat (zone). A 4x4

What's a Habitat Space? Well, a Habitat Space is the extra space you buy from the Dream Zoo Store to give your animal extra space to roam around. It is a shared space with all the animals that are connected. However, the animals and the habitat space has to be adjacent to each other. It can't be connected diagonally. Anything in the Dream Zoo Store that is not Currency, Hearts, Decor and Expansions are considered Habitat Space

Adding a Habitat Space will increase the coin collected by your animals that are connected to it. The amount added depends on which Habitat Space you buy, usually from 10% to 75%.

Habitat Space can be placed together to form a bigger space, and the multiplier effect gets added together. So 2 60% Habitat Space will result in a 120% extra coin collected from animals. However, it's not all roses in paradise. The multiplier is divided among all the attached animals. Boo.

As you can see in the picture below, I started with 2 family of Dream Zoo Gazelles, and One 4x4 spaced, 60% Habitat Space.

You can see that the top Gazelle with the 60% Habitat Space yields an additional 147 coins.

However, when we join the other Gazelle family, the Habitat Space yields an additional 74 coins for both families, combined, that's 146 coin

2 Gazelle Families with a 60% multipler gives 638 coins. 3 Gazelle Families will yeild 3*245 = 735 coins.

So the result? Habitat Space Multipliers are averaged out between all the attached animals. The more animal you attach, the more you lose. So if you have a 4x4 empty space, place another animal family, that animal family will bring you at least 100% more than your lest profitable animal in that same zone.

  1. Ah! That is pretty sneaky. So my strategy of stacking 10-12 items (habitats, paths, Decor) to affect all my animals isn't so grand. I'll verify the payouts are true to what you see here in Move mode.

  2. I'm not sure I follow the conclusion of your last sentence. I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to add habitat next to the high ticket animals (rhino for example) for a lower price than the cost of adding that much value via animals.

For example if I add a multiplier of 30% for some price (and consider the space of nothing else touching it - let's just say we'll reserve 4 little squares) and compare that to 30% of the total costs it takes to build a champion animal. If the multiplier is cheaper, then wouldn't that be a good argument for using a multiplier than building another animal?

  3. Well, if you think of it in the short run, then it would be better to buy a habitat space. lets say it's 1000 coins. Lets break it down into numbers to see how it turns out, because you raise many good points.
    (1) I'm not sure how much it is to plop down a new Rhino, but lets say it all ends up costing 50,000 coins.
(2)30% of Rhino's collection is about 4,602 coins.
(3)An additional Rhino would give you 15,339 coins per day
    (4) Lets say a 30% habitat space costs 1,000 coins.

Scenario 1 - You buy Habitat Space
So, your additional 'profit' per day is 4,602, and you already paid for the space that day. In 10 days, you'll have 46,020 coins extra
    Total profit in 10 days = 46,020 - 1000 = 45,020 coins

Scenario 2 - You raise a new Rhino
But if you put down a additional Rhino, your profit per day for the first 4 days is 20,344. (4 days to get to champion rhino)
rare rhino costs 4400 to ship, so if I over estimate, it'll take 50,000 coins to get full champion rhino family.
    for the next 6 days, you'll get 15,339 * 6 = 92,034
    total profit in 10 days = 92,034 + 20,344 - 50,000 = 62,378
